Ilmatar Offshore is an Åland-based company with a local business license. Ilmatar Offshore is a subsidiary of Ilmatar Energy.
In the Åland maritime spatial plan, the estimated total investment cost for offshore wind on Åland (project Sunnanvind) is 4.2 billion euros. To realize these plans, external capital is needed. Ilmatar Offshore is one of the actors that want to realize these projects.
According to our business model, Ilmatar constructs and operates the company’s production sites during their whole lifespan and is responsible for dismantling them. We are experts when it comes to wind power. Currently, we operate over 100 turbines and have 500-600 more under construction in land-based wind parks in Finland. We are backed up by robust finance providers, such as Omnes Capital, and are pioneers in building land-based wind parks without the support of subsidies. Among other parks, we have built the largest non-subsidized land-based wind park in Piiparinmäki, Finland.
We also have an independent power producer (IPP) and currently sell electricity directly to 30,000 private customers and 1,000 businesses in Finland. Ilmatar takes responsibility for the entire journey and always invests in the local community in the long term.
